Chest Holster Glock 40 - Do you spend time outside Do you want to be prepared for an encounter with a bear, moose, mountain lion, or worse, a man-eater? The Kenai Chest Holster was designed to be the best way to carry a firearm in the wild.
Kenai was conceived and built after being run over (almost literally) by a black bear while mountain biking in Washington State in 2011. Since then, it has been the go-to for outdoor enthusiasts around the world. It is also used by select military and law enforcement units to carry when conducting mounted patrols.

Designed with all-day comfort in mind, the Kenai carries .50 caliber pistols and semi-autos with the utmost comfort. The harness uses a wide, flat strap and buckles that sit in front of you or your torso, so the packing straps don't get in the way. It also has a durable double layer of elastic sewn into key areas so it expands and contracts as you breathe. Because it runs underneath your backfield setup when you drop a pack or other gear, the sidearm always stays with you.

Kenai gives you the confidence you need in this situation when split seconds matter. The Zealot uses a natural detent, so the gun snaps into place. When you need it, there are no snaps, straps, zippers or buttons, just grab it and pull. Draw times are as fast as a holster worn on a belt. Every holster that leaves our facility comes with a mounting kit with the actual gun, so we're 100% sure it's there when you need it.
Kenai is built entirely in the USA with materials and hardware sourced in the USA and will stand up to life's harshest conditions. Like everything we build, the Kenai has no threaded fasteners, it's completely rigid nailed, so there's nothing to loosen or fall off. If you spend some time in the mountains, you probably carry a backpack. And if you spend some time in the mountains, you probably carry some kind of sidearm for personal protection.
Growing up in parts of NE Washington and Northern Idaho, carrying a gun out in the backcountry is just normal procedure and not much attention is paid to it. I remember the days when I was rocking a Jansport, either a 1911 Auto or a .44 Magnum strapped to my hip. But as my adventures and gear choices progressed, I found that there had to be a better solution for gun backpacks. Any backpack worth its salt comes with a waist belt, which makes it a mystery how to carry that leg comfortably. Anyone who has tried wearing a traditional belt holster under their belt buckle and gone a considerable distance; Agree there must be a better way.
I tried every conceivable way to wear it; Including attaching the hip device and also the gun to my backpack. Each has its pros and cons... in my experience, they mostly have their cons. The first season I used a hip holster to carry my Glock 20, I quickly found that the outside of my thigh wore raw from the holster, only to slide open and down after miles on the trail. Wandering through deep snow was also problematic as I often found my gun and holster full of the white stuff. I tried several different brands and configurations of hip holsters before I finally decided to cross this one off the list. When it comes to pairing the gun with different areas of the pack, there are two main concerns:

2. Keeping the gun handy and in a mounted position for quick deployment (probably the more important of the two)
Around 2011 I discovered the rib cage. And even after trying several inferior designs, I was still convinced that the bust was it. A chest holster puts the gun right where you need it, but keeps it out of the way. Best of all, it places the gun higher than your midline, making it easier to deploy quickly and with less arm movement. I've also found that chest holsters work great when worn with a bib and don't interfere with archery or rifle shooting.
When I first saw the Kenai Chest on the Gunfighters INC website, I loved what I saw. I had already come across a bra that I thought was "the best", but I was interested in niceness and was willing to pace myself. The first thing I noticed about the Kenai was its wide, taut harness. They seemed comfortable and supportive. As someone with a lot of injuries and some level of nerve damage along my spine, I spent many days on the lousy trail. So obviously comfort is a very important factor for me. The first time I was on the trail with the Zealot I was very pleased and noticed that it was several hours before I noticed even a hint of nerve pain which I often struggle with. It was even more comfortable than the wrap I was currently using. Now after using Kenai from early spring to late fall, I can honestly say this is the most comfortable chest wrap I've used to date.
When I first took the Zealot out of the package, the large buckles and the consistency of the material used for the holster itself raised some concerns about the potential noise factor that seemed to be imminent. I noticed it a lot on my first few trips with the Kenai, but the excessive noise has only been a brief concern on a few occasions since then. Big, bulky buckles go hand in hand with wide harness straps. I later realized they weren't as much of a "necessary evil" as I first thought, as the large size of the buckles made them easy to handle while wearing gloves. I also found that once the device was comfortably worn and adjusted, the potential noise was reduced and only noticeable under certain circumstances (ie temperature/humidity changes, still hunting in quiet woods and feeling the noise from the devices).

The material of the holster is a mixture of Kydex and nylon. Gunfighters INC say they used this particular compound to achieve "excellent retention properties, weather resistance and light weight".
I can definitely agree with the excellent retention of this holster. My gun locks with a solid "click" but can easily be moved if needed. And they seem to hit the other intended areas, the holster is also very light and I haven't had any issues with the weather yet. This holster
